I am a pool designer and builder in Houston, Texas. Kirk recently led an instructional class for others in our industry to revisit how they approach backyard design.  Kirk is so approachable and takes time to show new and unthought of ideas to blend and give harmony to the backyard pallet. I also collaborated with Kirk on a design for a unique client. The client was blown away at the details that we incorporated for them. If you are a pool designer, and you want to elevate your game, you owe it to yourself to invest some time with Kirk.

Kirk Bianchi of Bianchi Design is one of my biggest role models in the design industry. Every project or piece of art that I have seen him create always seems to amaze me on a different level each and every time. I have known Kirk professionally for several years now, and I will call him a friend as well. We have engaged each other’s services in outdoor living / swimming pool design, and I have taken educational classes from him as well. My most recent educational experience in a “Master Designer Methods: Crafting the Outdoor Space as a Living Art Form” class through Genesis opened my eyes to seeing the design world through a different perspective. The skills, viewpoints, and methodology that he teaches and uses in his daily work can be noticed in some of the greatest artworks and architecture across the entire world. My most recent trip to Italy would not have been the same without learning how Kirk views and perceives things that most of us would walk right by, rather than understanding the purpose and subject of the art. There are no words to describe the amount of respect I have for Kirk – not only as a friend, but as a designer, a professional, an artist, a father, and as a leader in our industry. Thank you for everything that you have taught me and for the continued support. I hope that one day I will be as big of a pillar in the world of outdoor living design as you have become. You’ve inspired me from the beginning and every day since then!

My name is Skip Phillips, and I am the co-founder of Genesis, the world’s premier pool & spa education format for over 26 years.

It is my privilege to expand on the capabilities of Kirk Bianchi, with whom I first came into contact with in one of our early design schools. It was evident to me, as well as everyone who came into contact with Kirk, that he was a very special talent.

Fast-forward almost 20 years later, Kirk’s program on Master Design is a prerequisite for Master status in our educational system. To suggest that his approach to design is unique is as big of an understatement as his work and details being unparalleled. His vision of the vessel being designed last is as novel as, in my view, his designs are almost sculptural in nature. No one has a grasp on the interconnecting elevation details and water relationships as Kirk.

Kirk Bianchi designs some of the most beautiful and inspiring residential oasis found anywhere. While he’s known for his swimming pools, the spaces he creates are so much more than that, he makes places where the good life unfolds in the midst of gorgeous structures, plantings and water. We are taught to start with the pool and fill around it. This course teaches you to start outside in, and use the pool as a reflection and addition to the space, not always being the main focus.

I liked how Kirk used art to explain the consequential lines and placement.  Focal point awareness and color selections really struck hard with me.  I have always felt I designed very well and used sightlines, but Kirk broke it down exposing every ingredient.  One example he used was a rectangular pool with a spa that had the spillover material much lighter than the water color.  Kirk made it clear that that material should blend with the water.  As simple as it sounds, I have not always done that.  I really liked the use of walls and placement, picture framing and his use of a single ornamental tree.
